Preserving the Different Modes of Qu'ran Recitation with Hirz App
Hirz App, developed by Al-Hirz Institute Inc., is a multimedia application available on the iPhone platform. This app is dedicated to preserving the different modes of Qu'ran recitation that are linked to the Prophet.
With Hirz App, users have access to both free and premium audio contents. While the premium version is still in development, users can already enjoy the free recitations.
The Qu'ran was revealed in seven different modes (ahruf), which led to some disagreements among Muslims regarding recitation. Uthman Ibn Affan, during his khilafah, brought the different recitations together and compiled them into one manuscript, called al-Umm. He then sent copies of each recitation to various regions, along with a companion to teach the new Muslims.
However, in the present day, there is no khalifah to bring Muslims together and bridge the gap in recitation knowledge. Al-Hirz Institute, with the permission of Allah, aims to address this issue by recording all 20 Riwayat linked to the Prophet. They hope for the blessings (barakah) of Allah in this endeavor.
